Description

The Ph.D candidate will improve the global ocean reanalyses that has been developed in CNR-ISMAR, for example by using recent developed technology such as AI. Additionally, the Ph.D candidate will use the reanalyses and additional data (e.g. satellite data and in situ) to investigate the Arctic ocean dynamics.

Suggested skills:

The candidate should obtain certain knowledge of marine science, or climate science, or environment science. Additionally, the candidate should obtain knowledge on numerical models, machine learning or any technical skills.

Research team and environment

The research team is based in CNR-ISMAR, Rome, lead by Chunxue Yang, composed with several Ph.D students and Postdocs. The main activities of the research group focus on ocean reanalyses development and use ocean reanalyses to investigate ocean dynamics including meso-scale eddies, large scale ocean circulation in North Atlantic and Arctic Ocean.
