Mathematics
I am an applied mathematician with a longstanding interest in climate change. Before starting my PhD I worked in a consulting company specialized in European research projects dealing with Artificial Intelligence and cybersecurity. I plan to bring my best contribution in exploiting machine learning and data science potential for climate change multi risk assessment and modelling of complex socio-economic and environmental systems.
My research aims at developing machine learning tools to understand the dynamics between multiple risks acting at different scales and their complex chain of cascading effects. I will focus on the Veneto region, analysing how spatial and temporal interactions between multiple hazards and risk factors (e.g. compound wind and precipitation; alternating dry and wet events; vulnerability changes) can affect losses in several socio-economic sectors.
