The effects of climate change on permafrost environments and related ecosystems in polar and alpine regions will be the main focus of the research. The research will look into possible sources of greenhouse gases (GHGs) such as CO2 or CH4 from thawing permafrost, as well as the connections between the Earth System and climate, associated hazards, and how to better model potential future impact scenarios.
