About me

Graduated in Geological Sciences from the University of Catania, with a multianalytical sedimentary petrology thesis. I conducted my research activity through an internship at the laboratories of the University of Catania and ARPA Sicily, and then a fellowship on granite mining waste at the University of Ferrara. I actively participate in courses and conferences. Currently a PhD student at IUSS Pavia, focusing on asbestos-containing geomaterials.

My research

My project aims to comprehensively characterize asbestos and fibrous minerals in diverse geological contexts, including mineralogical, geochemical, and physical aspects. Methodology involves determination of the current state-of-the-art, geological surveys, sample collection, and extensive laboratory analyses. Expected outcomes include heightened awareness, effective investigation strategies, and potential valorisation of abandoned quarries.
